Hotel Hotlist: Gothic Church Turned Cutting Edge Sejour

Once a 15th century monastery, the Maastricht hotel-Kruisheren now houses contemporary chic designs all thanks to the revamp by the interior designer Henk Vos.

There are striking lighting installations by the German artist Ingo Maurer, and details by the likes of Le Corbusier, Philippe Starck and Marc Newson.

The glass elevator, newly installed mezzanine and dome- like lights of the hotel are showcasing elements of the perfect mix and match between medieval setting and contemporary styles. One can enjoy the breathtaking views from the chancel windows of the mezzanine floor. Despite its modern outlook, the sixty-room complex  entails the originality of the exquisite monastery as well as the Gothic church. For those seeking a travel delight for a time-travel to history and a splurge of modernity-Kruisheren is the place to be!
