Sheikha Al Mayassa Bint Hamad Al Thani was joined by Hollywood stars and leaders in science and technology for the 12th Breakthrough Prize ceremony.
Following a long working trip to China, H.E. Sheikha Al Mayassa bint Hamad Al Thani, Chairperson of Qatar Museums, flew to Los Angeles, USA, to attend the 2026 Breakthrough Prize. Often referred to as the “Oscars of Science”, the annual awards show was founded back in 2013 to honour individuals at the forefront of scientific change and champion the next generation of professionals in areas such as fundamental physics, life sciences, and mathematics.
Sheikha Al Mayassa, known as a champion of the arts and culture in Qatar and a supporter of Arab fashion talent through Fashion Trust Arabia, of which she is a co-founder, didn’t miss the chance to attend such an event celebrating science and innovation.

Sheikha Al Mayassa took to Instagram to share photos from the prize ceremony; she captioned: “One of the most inspiring nights. When science meets culture for the betterment of humanity — congrats to Yuri and Julia for the vision and execution of such an important field.”
This year’s ceremony honoured pioneers in Life Sciences, including researchers behind GLP-1 therapies and scientists who have dedicated their lives to developing new treatments for sickle cell disease and debilitating blood disorders affecting millions of people worldwide.
The event was also attended by American-born supermodel Gigi Hadid, The Devil Wears Prada actress Anne Hathaway, Salma Hayek, and many more, all of whom brought Hollywood glam to the night.
