When a Chair Becomes a Conversation Starter

Furniture is as much functional as it is a design object. When pushed beyond the familiar structures, shapes, and materials, they become artworks that anchor a space. Designers across the UAE are exploring this principle through a contemporary design lens, looking at furniture as more than a functional object, giving it a renewed form, feel, and personality.

Here are the UAE-based designers to know.

    Space by Yasmin

The QFX Chair by Yasmin Noureldin

Dubai-based designer Yasmin Noureldin works across interiors, furniture, and product design, bringing a graphic, contemporary feel to pieces while still rooted in regional culture. Her furniture translates familiar cultural and architectural references into clean, modern silhouettes that feel both familiar and fresh. The QFX Chair embodies that approach with a sculptural, throne-like seat with strong geometry, exuding a vibrant presence through its bold colour.

    Hardik Gandhi

    Around Chair by Hardik Gandhi

Working across furniture, lighting, interiors, and collectible design, Hardik Gandhi Design Studio creates pieces that are refined yet carry an emotional value. Gandhi’s Around collection turns the circle into a visual language that can also be a source of comfort. With sculptural curves, a refined silhouette, and warm tactical textures, the Around Chair makes for a bold, contemporary piece yet deeply inviting.

    Bubu Design Studio

The Prism Chair by Bubu Design Studio

Founded by Dubai-based Lebanese designer Maria Deraawie, Bubu Design Studio’s work carries bold forms, distinct details, and a playful personality. Designed to spark a conversation, they come in expressive colours and patterns. The Prism Chair combines rich textures, a sculptural silhouette and bold geometric shapes to bring together a comforting seat that also brings character to a space.

    Modu Method

    Coco by Modu

Modu Method’s approach to furniture follows a modular way of living with pieces that are meant to adapt and evolve with the people who use them. Founder and Emirati Designer Omar Al Gurg blends functionality with humour, warmth, and a collector’s eye in each design. Coco is a charming, low rocking lounge chair designed to cocoon the sitter and invite them to rock, recline, and relax.
