The Met Gala is one of the most prestigious global fashion events, with tastemakers putting their most eccentric foot forward in head-turning attire. This year, the event returns on 1 May to mark the opening of the Costume Institute’s annual fashion exhibit.

The theme of this iteration is ‘Karl Lagerfeld: A Line of Beauty’, which will pay homage to the legendary designer who  passed away in 2019.  Andrew Bolton, the Costume Institute curator, revealed that the theme will not be a “traditional retrospective.”

Guests will choose looks from the archival collections that the icon created for Chanel, Fendi, Chloé, Balmain, Patou and his eponymous brand during his lustrous career. 

The exhibition will pay tribute to his legacy and genius, with guests, many of who were friends and close collaborators of the designer, wearing designs that celebrate the life of Karl and the legacy he left behind.

Expect to see opulence and riveting looks descend on the red carpet.
