This Tunisian Actress Just Won Big At Carthage Film Festival

Tunisian actress Hend Sabri, beloved in the world of Arab cinema, won the Best Actress award at Carthage Film Festival 2019 for her performance in the film Noura’s Dream. The event, organized by JCC, which has been the hub of African and Arab cinema since 1966, was attended by a string of stars, who were nominated across several notable categories.

Hend described the moment she won as “indescribable” on her official Twitter account. Her film follows the journey of the eponymous character, Noura, played by Hend, and her attempts to escape the abuse of her husband. Directed by Hinde Boujemaa, the film has gone on to become a popular choice among audiences, and it also bagged the coveted Golden Tanit award for Best Feature Film at the Tunisian awards. Hind was also recently honored with the Starlight Cinema Award at Venice Film Festival 2019.
