The world’s richest horse race returns this weekend
At Meydan Racecourse, glamour and speed have always synced in a perfect tension. For thirty years, the Dubai World Cup has drawn the world’s finest racehorses, its most celebrated jockeys and some of its most impeccably dressed guests.
A testament to Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum’s visionary leadership, the Dubai World Cup has grown from a bold regional ambition in 1996 into one of the world’s most coveted racing stages, drawing the sport’s elite, royals, and fashion icons from every corner of the globe.

This year’s 30th anniversary, held at Meydan on Saturday, March 28th, promises the grandest edition yet. Eight world-class races, including the Dubai Sheema Classic, the Golden Shaheen, and the UAE Derby, will unfold across a day offering $30.5 million in prize money. Members of the UAE and GCC ruling families are expected in attendance, among them His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum and Crown Prince of Dubai His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed Al Maktoum.

Fashion at the Dubai World Cup
At the Dubai World Cup, fashion has always been its own event. Alongside the racing, a style contest runs among fashion enthusiasts. They compete across five categories: Best Dressed Lady, Best Dressed Man, Best Dressed Couple, Best Traditional Outfit, and Best Hat, with a selection of luxury prizes for winners.

This year, stylist and judge Sarah Silsbury is calling for intention over trend-chasing: “Fashion only truly evolves when it moves beyond chasing trends and returns to intention. The most compelling style isn’t about wearing what’s current but about refining a point of view — editing, elevating, and choosing pieces that feel considered rather than performative. True style always outlasts a moment.”

As the Dubai World Cup marks three decades of racing, we look back at the fashion moments that made the grandstand as memorable as the finish line.
