Sheikha Bodour Al Qasimi, President of the International Publishers Association and Founder and CEO of the UAE-based Kalimat Group, will be donating all proceeds from her latest book World Book Capital to rebuild the Samir Mansour Library in Gaza.
Founded 21 years ago, the Samir Mansour Library comprised more than a 100,000 books in various languages, covering a wide spectrum of topics including art history, philosophy and children’s stories. “I’m so grateful to have the chance to contribute to the rebuilding of the Samir Bookshop in Gaza. There is still so much hope in the world. Some people destroy while others rebuild. Gratitude to everyone who contributed to this great cause,” Sheikha Bodour wrote in a tweet.
World Book Capital, which was launched in May at the 12th Sharjah Children’s Reading Festival, introduces the young generations to cities that have won the UNESCO ‘World Book Capital’ title since 2001.
