Regional Escapes to Plan This Autumn

From secluded desert hideaways to wellness retreats, these are the regional destinations worth escaping to this season.

As temperatures begin to soften, autumn offers the perfect opportunity to rediscover the region. And with some of its most beautiful retreats only a short flight or drive from the UAE, a change of scenery doesn’t need to mean travelling far.

Whether you’re looking for a quiet weekend by the sea or a restorative wellness break, these are regional escapes to put on your radar.

Six Senses Zighy Bay, Oman

Hidden between Musandam’s dramatic mountains and a quiet stretch of coastline, Six Senses Zighy Bay has long been one of the region’s most compelling escapes. Private pool villas, an expansive spa and a peaceful beach set the relaxed tone, while diving and mountain adventures are there for those looking for something more active. As the weather cools, its rugged surroundings become even more appealing.

The Chedi Muscat, Oman

Understated and serene, The Chedi Muscat combines the ease of a city break with the atmosphere of a coastal retreat. Manicured gardens, tranquil pools and minimalist architecture sit between the Al Hajar Mountains and the Gulf of Oman, while central Muscat is within easy reach. It is an ideal choice for a long weekend that balances exploring the city with plenty of time doing very little.

Zulal Wellness Resort by Chiva-Som, Qatar

For a few days dedicated entirely to resetting, Zulal Wellness Resort by Chiva-Som offers a more considered approach to the traditional resort stay. Located on Qatar’s northern coast, its personalised programmes combine nutrition, movement, spa therapies and holistic wellness. With separate experiences designed for adults and families, it works equally well as a solo retreat or a restorative escape together.

Naäma Beach Villas & Spa, Fujairah

Closer to home, Naäma Beach Villas & Spa offers an intimate escape on Fujairah’s Al Aqah coastline. Set between the Hajar Mountains and the Gulf of Oman, its private villas and pools create a secluded atmosphere away from the larger resorts nearby. With the beach on the doorstep and some of the UAE’s best-known snorkelling and diving spots close by, it is an easy autumn weekend without the flight.

Anantara Qasr Al Sarab Desert Resort, Abu Dhabi

There is something particularly special about the Empty Quarter once summer begins to recede. Surrounded by seemingly endless dunes, Anantara Qasr Al Sarab Desert Resort offers one of the UAE’s most atmospheric stays. Spend the day exploring the desert, retreat to the spa or simply watch the landscape change with the light. For a true sense of escape without leaving the country, few places compare.

Raffles Al Areen Palace, Bahrain

Privacy defines a stay at Raffles Al Areen Palace Bahrain, an all-villa retreat surrounded by landscaped gardens. Its 78 villas each come with a private swimming pool, while dedicated butler service and a strong focus on wellness make it ideal for a slower few days away. Traditional Arabian design is balanced by contemporary interiors, creating a polished desert escape within easy reach of Manama.

Nujuma, a Ritz-Carlton Reserve, Saudi Arabia

Set among the islands of Saudi Arabia’s Red Sea, Nujuma offers one of the region’s most distinctive coastal escapes. Shell-inspired villas sit either over the water or along the beach, each with its own private pool and uninterrupted views across the sea. Days revolve around the surrounding reefs, pristine beaches and Neyrah Spa, with the remote setting providing a rare sense of stillness.
