There’s been plenty to celebrate in Jordan’s royal family this month. First came Princess Iman’s second birthday, followed by the arrival of Princess Iman bint Abdullah II’s twin daughters, Talia and Rania. Now, the celebrations continue as Her Majesty Queen Rania marks her 56th birthday.
To mark the occasion, the Royal Court released a new portrait. While we might have anticipated a glamorous look, the ever-stylish Queen Rania opted for a more relaxed look that was perfect for the late-summer days.
Queen Rania’s look truly reflected her state of mind: relaxed, content and happy, as her dream of expanding her grandchildren’s club continues to come true, now with four granddaughters, one of whom is named after her.
The queen was photographed seated on the ground in a garden wearing a white cotton t-shirt from Massimo Dutti tucked in classic blue denim, totally 90s vibes.
She wore her signature Apple Watch, paired with custom-made seven-pointed star diamond earrings, a symbol also featured on Jordan’s national flag, representing the seven verses of Al-Fatiha, the opening surah of the Quran.
Queen Rania: More Than A Fashion Icon
Although Queen Rania is recognised as one of the world’s most fashionable royal icons, she also uses fashion as a tool of public diplomacy. From championing Jordanian designers to wearing pieces that celebrate her country’s heritage, every look can tell a story and connect her with people around the world.
Since joining the Jordanian royal family, Queen Rania has devoted her life to public service, with the wellbeing of Jordanian families, children and young people at the heart of her work.
This year marks a special milestone for two of Her Majesty’s local initiatives, with the Al Aman Fund for the Future of Orphans and the Royal Health Awareness Society (RHAS) both celebrating their 20th anniversaries. The Al Aman Fund supports the education and training of young people who have grown up without parental care, while the RHAS works to educate and empower individuals and families to lead healthier lives.
For more than two decades, Queen Rania has promoted Jordan’s tourism and championed opportunities for Jordanians, particularly women and young people, while supporting education, children and families across the Kingdom. Through her international engagements, she has also repeatedly highlighted rising global conflicts and the unchecked development of emerging technologies as threats to humanity’s shared progress, while affirming our collective ability to confront them.
Her work continues this year, from following up on initiatives that empower women and youth to supporting education and training, encouraging local development and shining a light on Jordan’s rich culture, heritage and historic sites.
When King Abdullah II ascended the throne in 1999, Queen Rania became the world’s youngest queen at the time. More than two decades later, as she celebrates her 56th birthday, she has grown into a global royal figure admired not only for her style but also for the causes she champions, the people she supports and the way she continues to use her platform to make a difference.
