Everything You Need To Know About The Clean Beauty Movement

The COVID-19 pandemic has renewed interest in clean beauty and wellness around the world. As more and more consumers pivot towards ethical brands, we put together everything you need to know about the clean beauty movement and share why you should be a part of it too.

Clean beauty is exactly what it says it is – clean and free of ingredients that are suspected to be harmful to health. While it’s hard to accept that conventional beauty companies include endrocrine disruptors like parabens and phthalates in their products, these practices are common and legal in the beauty industry.

The routine use of such products is concerning, which is why switching to healthier alternatives is necessary.  Interestingly, the clean beauty movement isn’t new to the UAE. With a fair share of clean beauty products available in the country, we’ve shortlisted a selection of five cruelty-free and ethically-sourced self-care products you can incorporate into your regime. Treat yourself with some kindness this summer.

Rahua

Renowned hairstylist and colorist Fabian Lliguin was visiting the Amazon forest as an environmentalist when he came across the indigenous tribeswomen, all of whom had long and lustrous hair. The secret of their beauty was rahua oil, which they had been using to nourish their hair and skin.

This confluence of events led to the birth of Rahua, made with organic, natural, pure plant derived ingredients. It’s vegan, non-toxic and free of parabens, silicone, sulfate and gluten, with all ingredients  grown wild and processed by hand. The brand also uses PET packaging that is 100% recyclable to reduce their carbon footprint. Their products can be purchased on Hoiisa, Ounass and Harvey Nichols Dubai.
