Oman’s Sayyida Dr. Mona Bint Fahad Al Said, Assistant Vice-Chancellor for International Cooperation at Sultan Qaboos University, and Sayyida Dr. Basma Bint Fakhri Al Said, a mental health specialist and founder of Oman’s first mental health clinic, have been honoured with the Arab Woman Social Responsibility Award in recognition of their outstanding contributions to education, healthcare, and community development across the region.

The honours were presented during the Arab Women and Social Responsibility Forum in Cairo, organised by the League of Arab States in partnership with the Arab Council for Social Responsibility as part of the fifth edition of the Arab Woman Social Responsibility Award, held at the League’s headquarters.
The award honours Sayyida Dr. Mona bint Fahad Al Said’s distinguished leadership in education, international cooperation, community service, and strategic partnerships. Recognised as one of the Arab world’s foremost figures, Her Highness has devoted her career to advancing human development, driving sustainable progress, and fostering a culture of social responsibility through transformative initiatives and enduring institutions.

Meanwhile, Sayyida Dr. Basma Al Said was honoured with the Arab Woman Excellence Award for Mental Health, a newly introduced category within the Arab Woman Social Responsibility Awards, recognising pioneering contributions to the field. Founder of Oman’s first private mental health clinic, Sayyida Dr. Basma has played a leading role in advancing mental health awareness, supporting women’s empowerment, and launching impactful community initiatives that have left a lasting positive mark on society.
The Arab Woman Excellence Shield for Social Responsibility is the first award of its kind in the Arab world dedicated to recognising outstanding women whose initiatives have created a tangible social impact and contributed to achieving the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.
