Emirati Women Shaping The Future Of The UAE’s Hospitality Landscape: Meet Abeer Al Shaali
Abeer Al Shaali

As tourism numbers continue to soar and luxury travel remains unabated in the UAE, consumers have shown greater proclivity towards experiences that are private and exclusive. Abeer Al Shaali, who is the Deputy Managing Director at Gulf Craft, one of the world’s leading shipyards and luxury yacht manufacturers, has witnessed the sea change first hand.

“Guests always want a bespoke experience that promises complete privacy and relaxation,” she shares. “And that’s what luxury yachts offer whether you own or charter one.” Since its inception in 1982, Gulf Craft has been manufacturing luxury yachts and leisure boats in the UAE, and now has five brands in its product portfolio—Majesty Yachts, Nomad Explorer Yachts, Oryx Sport Cruisers, and Silver Craft and Silver Cat Boats.

Abeer joined the family business in 2015 and works in the executive office alongside her father. In her current role, she’s responsible for overseeing the expansion of the company’s network in Europe, the United States and other key markets, whilst extending guidance to the executive management team.

It was a moment of deep pride for her when Gulf Craft’s Majesty 120 Superyacht was named the winner in the ‘Eco Award’ and ‘Best Naval Architecture, Semi Displacement or Planing Motor Yachts’ categories at the BOAT International Design and Innovation Awards this year.

Abeer believes that students aspiring to join the boating industry must acquire hands-on experience to familiarise themselves with the inner workings of the sector. Gulf Craft believes in nurturing young talent as part of its commitment to engaging the youth and enabling them to build rewarding careers.

“At Gulf Craft, we’re committed to driving innovation in the marine industry, and we know that supporting talented designers of the future is essential for achieving this goal.”
