Paris Fashion Week Day 3: The Stand-Out Runways

Day 3 of Paris Fashion Week unfolded in contrasting aesthetics. From ocean-inspired looks to reinterpreted glamour, the runway presentations demonstrated a varied and nuanced fashion expression. The day was marked by a star-studded front row and designers pushing their signatures in new directions.

Here are the standout shows from the day.

    Stella McCartney

Stella McCartney’s Spring/Summer 2027 collection was a play on proportions and shapes. While the shapes and silhouettes remained restrained, each piece demonstrated a relaxed fit and an ease of movement. Oversized shirts featured drawstring waists borrowed from raincoats, while peplums returned in soft, rounded shapes that flared gently at the hip. Sharp-shouldered blazers and bubble hems also appeared throughout the collection.

Drawing inspiration from the underwater ecosystem, marine life graphics featuring dolphins and whales appeared across sweaters and T-shirts. Wave-like motifs were seen across all silhouettes, including blazers, dresses, tops, and trousers. Even the colour palette followed the sea theme in blues, corals, and sage, along with chocolate brown and blush colours.

    Tom Ford

For Tom Ford’s Spring/Summer 2027 collection, Creative Director Haider Ackermann returned to sharp tailoring. Leaning into the house’s seductive aesthetic, the designs demonstrated darker and more architectural making. Razor-cut blazers were worn over bare skin or bra tops, with low slung trousers that traced the hips with sharp precision.

Evening wear came as bias-cut gowns and slip dresses in deep lipstick red, featuring cut-outs and off-shoulder details that flashed skin in a restrained manner. The collection also made a strong case for leather through elegant pencil skirts, co-ords, and tops. Sheer pencil skirts and bodysuits, and swimwear, brought a kind of edge otherwise unfamiliar to Tom Ford.

    Balmain

Presenting his second collection for Balmain, Antonin Tron is reimagining the house’s glamour with a sense of ease. Across the collection, animal prints, body-conscious silhouettes, and sharp tailoring took to a more relaxed feel, making glamour feel effortless. Trenches were cut close to the body line, and pencil skirts rested low on the hips.

Plunging necklines were accented by long silver necklaces, while statement chokers and cuffs also appeared across looks. The soft colour palette kept the collection sophisticated while flashes of orange, purple, and green brought drama and fun.

    Dries Van Noten

Julian Klauser’s SS27 collection for Dries Van Noten looked back at 1950s Hollywood glamour. Silhouettes were relaxed and layered with breezy viscose trenches and unstructured slip dresses carrying vintage movie-poster prints, while printed slip dresses were worn over vintage-style tees and under cropped jackets.

Ornate brooches also took centre stage as they held together the neat layers and accented dresses and skirts. Twin-sets, pussy bows, and animal prints were intertwined with polos and casual knits, creating a tension between glamour and everyday style. Spray-painted flamingos, martini glasses, and star motifs appeared across the collection, finished with belts that gently held the waists.
