On Monday, Their Royal Highnesses Prince Ali bin Al Hussein and Princess Rym Al Ali of Jordan were joined by their two children, Their Royal Highnesses Princess Jalila and Prince Abdullah, at the closing ceremony of the Amman International Film Festival, held against the historic backdrop of the Amman Citadel.
The family has long been a fixture at the festival, with Princess Rym Al Ali serving as its President and Co-Founder. This year, however, it was the mother-and-daughter duo who captured attention as Princess Rym and Princess Jalila stepped out in designs by Jordanian designer Edelina Joyce, championing homegrown talent.
Princess Rym turned to the Jordanian-British designer Edelina Joyce, with whom she has always shared a special relationship, trusting her designs over the years. Arriving on the red carpet for the closing ceremony, she looked radiant in a blue gown featuring a gold sequinned bodice and a flowing floor-length blue skirt with a front slit, finished with gold strappy heels.
Choosing Edelina Joyce as her mother did, the 20-year-old Princess Jalila bint Ali also selected a bespoke design by the Jordanian designer for the occasion. She stepped out in a sweeping floor-length matte-black gown, draped into a soft cowl neckline that flowed into a single cascading cape sleeve. She completed the look with Sarah’s Bag’s Keffiyeh Anthracite Slip Bag with fringes, alongside delicate stacked bracelets and a silver watch. The stunning princess wore her down in glamorous waves.
Edelina Joyce continues to add another major royal moment to her CV, with the mother-and-daughter duo choosing to wear her designs for the Amman International Film Festival 2026 opening ceremony. The Jordanian-British designer returned to Jordan in 2017 after building her career in London, where she previously worked with Victoria Beckham. The move marked the beginning of a new chapter, with her debut showcase taking place during Amman Design Week that same year.
“Ever since my exhibition in 2017, we’ve been collaborating together. Princess Rym is a passionate supporter of women in the creative industries,” Jordanian-British designer Edelina Joyce once shared with CNN.
The Jordanian-British designer has a history of dressing members of the Jordanian Royal Family, having created a bespoke hand-embroidered gown for HRH Princess Iman bint Abdullah on the occasion of His Majesty King Abdullah II’s Silver Jubilee. Queen Rania has also worn her pieces on several occasions.
One of her major royal moments came when she dressed Princess Jalila bint Ali for one of the most watched Arab weddings in history, the wedding of Crown Prince Al Hussein and Princess Rajwa in 2023.
