Celebrating the art of bespoke tailoring and fine British craftsmanship, Rolls-Royce Motor Cars has unveiled the Ghost Savile Row, a unique, one-of-one Ghost Extended commission. The vehicle, honouring the deep historical relationship between the luxury automaker and Savile Row, is inspired by London’s world-renowned home of custom suiting.
The relationship between the two houses began when Rolls-Royce opened its very first showroom on the Conduit Street in Mayfair, just moments away from the famous tailoring street. Brand co-founder Charles Rolls, known for his immaculate personal style on formal occasions, shared Savile Row’s commitment to bringing a client’s individual character to life through extraordinary detail.
Reflecting the palette of classic British menswear, the exterior of the motor car features a two-tone Midnight Sapphire over English White paint scheme, carefully created to evoke a traditional navy suit paired with a crisp white dress shirt. Rather than using conventional hand-painted coachline, designers introduced a hand-painted Silver Featureline across the white upper bodywork. This subtle accent line references fine jewellery elements like cufflinks or a dress watch worn by a well-tailored individual. The exterior is completed with nine-spoke 22-inch part-polished wheels featuring body-coloured centres.
The tailoring theme comes alive through Navy Blue and Artistic White leathers, paired with Selby Grey piping and contrast stitching, inside the cabin. Marking a first for the brand, Rolls-Royce has applied a vertical run-stitch pinstripe pattern directly onto the seats to mirror fine pinstriped cloth.
Additionally, white leather inserts on the seat backs are styled to evoke a pressed white pocket square tucked neatly into a jacket pocket. The fascia and upper door panels are dressed in Tactile Open Pore White Wood veneer. These meticulous details extend throughout, including leather-wrapped climate controls, volume dials, and indicator stalks.
The commission’s boldest feature remains concealed until the rear centre armrest is lowered. Revealed behind the armrest is a vibrant, complex embroidery depicting the square courtyard trees and their shadows at the Home of Roll-Royce in Goodwood. Designed to imitate the vibrant lining of a custom suit jacket, this artwork is the most demanding single-frame embroidery ever executed by Rolls-Royce, requiring seven thread colours, 250,000 stitches, nearly kilometres of stitching, and nine hours of continuous crafting. Complete with illuminated treadplates and customised umbrellas, the Ghost Savile Row represents a masterclass in custom automotive luxury.
