Meet Qatari designer and founder of Kaltham’s Pavilion, Kaltham Al Majid

We talk inspiration, culture and the craftsmanship with the designer.

Jewellery has long served as a powerful expression of identity, heritage and personal storytelling, and few designers understand that balance better than Kaltham Al Majid. Through her brand, Kaltham’s Pavilion, the Qatari designer has established a distinctive creative language that blends exceptional craftsmanship with a contemporary perspective, resulting in pieces that feel both timeless and deeply personal.

Drawing inspiration from nature, poetry, culture and emotion, Al Majid creates jewellery with a meaning. Pearls, diamonds and precious gemstones are transformed into intricate creations that celebrate individuality while subtly reflecting the traditions and narratives of the Gulf region.

As Kaltham’s Pavilion continues to grow, Al Majid remains focused on creating heirloom pieces that preserve memories, emotions and stories for generations to come. We speak to the designer about the inspiration behind the brand, the influence of Qatari culture on her work, her latest collections and what luxury means in today’s evolving world.

KALTHAM AL MAJID

How would you describe the brand’s design identity today?

Kaltham’s Pavilion is a celebration of modern femininity rooted in heritage. The brand blends soft romanticism with architectural structure, creating pieces that feel timeless yet emotionally expressive. Our designs often carry storytelling elements inspired by nature, poetry, Qatari culture, and the idea of transformation — resulting in jewellery that feels deeply personal and collectible.

What is the vision?

The vision of Kaltham’s Pavilion is to create heirloom jewellery that preserves emotion, identity, and memory. We aim to redefine regional luxury through artistry and craftsmanship while bringing Middle Eastern storytelling into a contemporary global design language.

What inspires you?

Inspiration comes from many places — nature, flowers, movement, poetry, architecture, spirituality, and human emotion. I’m especially inspired by meaningful details: the texture of petals, the symbolism behind pearls in our culture, old heirloom pieces, and the stories people carry with them. Every collection begins with a feeling before it becomes a design.

How does your culture influence your designs?

My culture is at the heart of everything I create. Growing up in Qatar, I’ve always been surrounded by beauty in tradition — from pearls and craftsmanship to hospitality, storytelling, and architecture. I love reinterpreting those elements in a subtle, modern way so the pieces feel contemporary while still carrying a sense of heritage and belonging.

Tell us about your latest collections.

Our latest collections explore transformation, femininity, and versatility. One of my favorite projects involved a necklace that transforms into a tiara, blurring the line between wearable jewellery and art. We’ve also explored floral forms inspired by the lily of the valley and regional symbolism through pearls and sculptural details. The collections are delicate yet technically intricate, designed for women who appreciate individuality and craftsmanship.

Are there any particular materials, stones or techniques you are especially drawn to?

I’m especially drawn to pearls because they feel deeply connected to our heritage and carry a softness that I love. I also gravitate toward diamonds for their brilliance and timelessness, as well as colored gemstones that bring emotion and personality into a piece. Technique-wise, I love intricate hand craftsmanship, textured surfaces, and transformable jewellery that allows a piece to evolve and be worn in different ways.

What role does craftsmanship play within Kaltham’s Pavilion?

Craftsmanship is the soul of the brand. Every piece is designed with great attention to detail, proportion, and wearability. I believe true luxury lies in the human touch — in the hours of refinement, stone setting, sculpting, and finishing behind every creation. Craftsmanship is what transforms jewellery from an accessory into something meaningful and enduring.

What does luxury mean to you today?

To me, luxury today is authenticity and emotion. It’s no longer only about exclusivity — it’s about owning something with meaning, intention, and artistry behind it. True luxury is timeless, personal, and made to last both physically and emotionally.

What advice would you give to young regional designers hoping to launch their own brands?

Stay true to your identity and don’t underestimate the value of your perspective. Our region has so many beautiful stories that deserve to be told through design. Focus on building something authentic rather than following trends and be patient with the process. A strong brand takes time, consistency, and resilience — but authenticity will always stand out.

Describe the brand in one word?
