How to Travel Like George and Amal Clooney

From Lake Como to Provence, we imagine where the world’s most stylish couple escape to.

It is well documented that George and Amal Clooney are among the most well-travelled couples in the world. With homes across continents and a deep love for the European countryside, their holiday destinations also reflect their extensive property portfolio, which takes them everywhere from New York to the Italian lakes. Whether attending global events or retreating into private spaces, this duo always travel in style.

This week, the couple were spotted in New York, a city that has long been part of their orbit. It prompted the question: when they are not working, where do they go for themselves? And more importantly, how do they travel?

At the heart of their journey is Lake Como. It is here, in the small town of Laglio, that George Clooney’s Villa Oleandra has become something of a defining backdrop to their lives. Over the years, the property has evolved into not only a home (the couple spends their summers there, and it is famously where they met in 2013) but also a place of familiarity and peace. Their days on the lake would likely begin quietly with breakfast overlooking the water, before meandering into the rhythm of the local villages.

Beyond their private residence, the couple are often seen at some of the region’s most luxurious addresses. The Grand Hotel Tremezzo and Villa d’Este, both icons in their own right, offer a level of timeless elegance that aligns seamlessly with the couple. To travel like George and Amal in Lake Como would be about embracing a slower pace, long lunches, boat rides across the water and relaxing evenings enjoying sunset as a family.

From Italy, I imagine them travelling to Provence, France. In Brignoles, surrounded by vineyards and rolling countryside, the couple’s Provencal-style home is a sanctuary of calm. Grounded in earth, texture and quiet rural life, it is here that their days would likely revolve around simple pleasures, local markets, time spent outdoors and the understated luxury of space and privacy.

Then there is Saint-Tropez, where the atmosphere becomes more social. The couple have long been associated with the French Riviera, often spotted at beach clubs such as Jardin Tropezina or staying at the renowned Château de La Messardière. Here, their journey takes on a different carefree energy. From morning to night, I imagine the couple going for an early swim in the sea, followed by long lunches and late dinners with friends.

Beyond Europe, their travels occasionally extend further. Cabo, Mexico, has been a destination of choice for New Year’s celebrations, offering a more festive, yet still private, setting. For sure, the couple would find quiet moments here too, but I imagine it’s a place to celebrate with loved ones and enjoy the sunshine and laid-back atmosphere.

And then we have Venice, which holds greater significance for the couple. It was here that George and Amal celebrated their wedding, transforming the city into a deeply personal memory. To return to Venice (which they do very often) would not be about revisiting some of their happiest moments. Early morning walks along quiet canals, private boat rides and evenings spent away from the crowds would likely define their experience.

Amal’s Lebanese heritage also offers another layer to their travel story. While less public, it is easy to imagine visits that feel more intimate, rooted in family, culture and familiarity. Here, travel becomes something quieter and more discreet.

Travelling like George and Amal Clooney would undoubtedly be an adventure. Defined by quiet moments, laughter and family time, it’s a holiday many of us would love to be a part of!
