Paris held its first-ever Modest Fashion Week this season, and seeing the city, long considered the traditional gatekeeper of high fashion, host an event of this scale means a clear shift: modesty is no longer treated as a subculture or a seasonal curiosity.
Bringing together nearly 30 designers, the lineup included three regional labels that stood out—the UAE’s Fashion by Shehna, Qatar’s Hindami, and Kuwait’s Roqai Fashion House—each showcasing collections that are a true masterclass in a contemporary-traditional blend.

For Shehna Hussein, founder and creative director of the UAE’s Fashion by Shehna, the experience defied easy language. “Being part of the first edition of Paris Modest Fashion Week feels surreal in the most beautiful way,” she says. “Paris has always been the language of fashion, and to hear modest fashion spoken fluently in that city, on that stage, for the first time, is something I don’t take lightly.”
Her ten-look collection, SUKOON, meaning ‘peace and stillness’. Drawing on South Asian textile traditions — Chikankari, Chanderi, Kasavu gold borders, and Banarasi silk — Shehna crafted silhouettes that feel deeply modest and deeply modern at once.

The collection’s defining signature, a rhinestone chain-mail balaclava worn across all ten looks, is ceremonially removed in the final look — a moment that distils the collection’s central idea: not a reveal of the face, but of the self.

“Being part of this first edition feels like being part of history,” Roqaia Alahmed at At Roqai Fashion House reflects, “and it inspires me to continue pushing creative boundaries while staying true to my roots.”
Roqaia’s collection, which she calls a Journey to Elegance, is built on the balance between cultural identity and modern sophistication. Flowing lines and open jackets form the collection’s foundation, rendered in silk and velvet for a finish that feels considered and unhurried.

Each piece is designed to feel quietly confident — elegant without demanding attention — and rooted in the belief that modest fashion is, at its finest, an act of self-expression as powerful as any other. “Modest fashion is no longer a niche,” she adds. “It is evolving into a global language of elegance, inclusivity, and individuality.”

At the Qatari label Hindami, designer Sara Al Muhannadi draws inspiration from the beauty of heritage and the elegance of modern femininity. Structured cuts sit alongside flowing silhouettes, while the details tell their own story: Moroccan embroidery, hand-drawn elements, and pearl accents set against exclusive fabrics that reward a closer look
“We wanted to present designs that respect the essence of modest fashion while bringing a fresh, contemporary perspective,” the brand shares.

Through the collection, that vision becomes clear: modest fashion not only rooted in culture but also confidently forward-looking.
For Hindami and the wider group of designers who brought their work to Paris, this moment extends far beyond the runway. “It reflects how modest fashion continues to grow globally,” the brand notes, “and shows that our designs, culture, and identity have a place on the world stage.”
