Open Calls Announced as Dubai Design Week 2026

This November, Dubai Design Week returns to Dubai Design District (d3), bringing together designers, architects, studios, institutions, and creative thinkers for a week dedicated to exploring the future of design. Taking place from 3–8 November 2026, the festival invites participants from the UAE, the region, and internationally to become part of a programme centred on exchange, experimentation, and new ways of thinking.

Applications for the 2026 edition are now open across a series of exhibitions, commissions, installations, and curated showcases. Alongside the festival, Downtown Design returns from 4–8 November 2026, reaffirming its position as the Middle East’s leading contemporary design fair and offering a platform for international brands, emerging studios, and regional talent through talks, experiences, and industry engagement.

Among this year’s opportunities is Abwab, a returning exhibition exploring the role of language across visual and spatial disciplines. Through works spanning typography, publishing, sound, graphic design, and spatial practice, the exhibition considers how meaning is constructed, remembered, and translated across cultures.

The open call for Urban Commissions invites architecture and design practitioners worldwide to rethink public infrastructure and propose interventions that explore how spatial environments influence movement, behaviour, and social connection within contemporary cities.

Supporting local talent remains central to the programme through the UAE Designer Exhibition at Downtown Design, developed with Dubai Culture to spotlight UAE-based designers and studios while creating opportunities for mentorship and commercial exposure.

Further participation opportunities include Installations, focused on community-led and responsible public interventions, and Activations, welcoming brands, institutions, educators, and independent practitioners to present collaborative projects, immersive concepts, and interdisciplinary experiences.

As applications open, Dubai Design Week once again expands its role beyond a design festival becoming a platform where ideas, communities, and creative practices come together to imagine new possibilities.
