Snap does it again. On Tuesday, Snapchat’s parent company announced Spectacles 3, the latest version of its augmented reality sunglasses that boast a sleek new design, round lenses, and an HD camera to enhance depth perception. Available to pre-order now, these video-recording glasses with 3D effects retail at $380 (Dhs1,396), more than double the cost of its previous version. The new product aims at targeting a small group of fashion-forward tastemakers and creatives.
The launch comes three years after the launch of Snapchat’s first pair that was initially sold in vending machines. In a social media teaser, Snapchat showed the special effects users can add to their ‘Snaps’ with Spectacles. The glasses come in two colors, carbon (black) and mineral (gold beige) and feature a lightweight steel frame, adjustable tips and tinted lenses for protection from the sun.
You can capture photos and videos with a tap of a button on the glasses, and you can edit them and send them to your friends on Snapchat after syncing them to your Android or iOS device. Fascinating, isn’t it?
