Saudi Design Week Starts Today And Here’s What You Need To Know About It

To bring the Kingdom’s 2030 vision to life, Saudi Design Week opens today as a part of the inaugural Riyadh Season with the theme of ‘Designing Happiness’. Designers from multidisciplinary fields took up the change of creating showcases that will convey the theme. The event is taking place across the 10,000-square-meter Riyadh Front and aims at drawing crowds with its exciting program of talks, workshops and interactive design installations, with showcases by over 50 exhibitors. Here are a few highlights from the event:

1. Azra
Launched in 2015, Azra Khamissa’s bags are the epitome of minimalism and eco-friendly design. She ethically sources camel leather and designs each bag in collaboration with local artisans, in keeping with the ethos of her brand.

2. Cones & Rods
The brand is a huge supporter of cruelty-free and fair trade eyewear. Its unwavering vision is what gave birth to the brand and each creation seeks to send out a message of acting now for the environment.

3. MZN Body Care
This small-scale artisan skincare store debuted at a home spa party in 2014 and since then has grown into being a part of boutiques across the Kingdom, as well as online stores. With products such as body butters and face masks, the brand emphasizes on organic ingredients that protect the body and skin.

4. Grid Creative Agency
A contemporary agency led by Saudi females, Grid is the backbone of ideas of different entities be it startups or corporates with its intuitive and innovative thinking. The agency has grown in serving a vast field of clients.

4.  Hanuxe
This modern luxury handbag brand from Saudi features designs hailing from the fashion hub of the world, Italy. These understated handbags echo the message of ‘less is more’.

The capital will transform into a hub for discussions, exhibitions and all-things design for this four-day event from 6 till 9 November.
