The Future of Power Reserve: Inside Vacheron Constantin’s Traditionnelle Twin Beat

Vacheron Constantin pushes the boundaries of mechanical watchmaking with the Traditionnelle Twin Beat Perpetual Calendar, a complication designed to answer one of haute horlogerie’s most complex questions: how to preserve energy without compromising precision.

Built around the patented Twin Beat® system, the hand-wound Calibre 3610 QP uses two separate frequencies a high-frequency 5 Hz Active mode for daily wear and a low-frequency 1.2 Hz Standby mode that dramatically reduces energy consumption when the watch is not in use.

This dual-frequency architecture, powered by a coaxial double barrel and supported by three dedicated differentials, allows the watch to deliver more than two months of power reserve in Standby mode and four days in Active mode. Further technical developments to the perpetual calendar mechanism have increased reserve by an additional five days through a newly engineered low-energy instant-jump system.

Encased in 42 mm platinum with a thickness of just 12.3 mm, the watch pairs technical innovation with a contemporary visual language. A transparent sapphire dial reveals the movement’s architecture beneath a slate-grey hand-guilloché gold surface, while NAC-treated finishing, laser-etched counters, and contrasting metallic tones highlight the complexity beneath. Completed with a textured calfskin strap and platinum pin buckle, the Traditionnelle Twin Beat presents a modern vision of high watchmaking.
