For those with a penchant for both high jewellery and art, Cindy Chao The Art Jewel is a name that will conjure images of unique artistic elegance for you.
Celebrated at museum-level prestige, the Black Label Masterpieces are placed in global institutions from the Smithsonian to the V&A Museum. Indeed, Cindy Chao has redefined jewellery as a sculptural art form. Now, through its brand new White Label Collection, the maison opens the doors to a more accessible dimension of its creative universe.
Each handcrafted and entirely unique, each of the White Label pieces bridges the gap between art jewellery and high jewellery. The collection offers fans of the brand the opportunity to wear and own a work of art.
Crafted using the ancient cire perdue (lost wax) technique and made with unconventional materials including ebony, bacote wood, titanium, and ox horn, the pieces defy convention. More wearable than their Black Label counterparts, White Label creations are designed to be showcased on a human canvas.
The White Label universe is split into two thematic series, the Four Seasons and Ribbon Collections, each capturing a different dimension of Chao’s artistic language:
The Four Seasons is an ode to nature and the passage of time. From the icy elegance of winter branches to the vibrant bloom of spring, each piece is a creative expression of nature’s cycles. The series began with a black and white Winter Branch necklace and bangle back in 2007 and has since evolved into a symphony of colour.
In the Ribbon Collection, Chao manages to achieve the softness of silk from the rigidity of metal and gemstones. Beginning back in 2013 with the Ruby Ribbon Ring, which set records at Sotheby’s Hong Kong, the collection captures the fluttering movement of ribbon in mid-air. With sculptural curves, dimensional layering, and meticulously set gemstones creates an illusion of motion.
