Why A Trip To Croatia Should Be On Your Eid Getaway List

Croatia is known for its sprawling coastline, with crystal clear waters and plentiful archipelagos, making it a glamourous holiday getaway for many.

But it’s so much more than just about yacht week and beachside living, it’s about the culture, the history, the food and the stunning natural beauty all across the lush country.

Emirates flights land directly in the capital, Zagreb, making it a worthwhile trip, rather than the tourist-traps of Dubrovnik and Split – though these are captivatingly beautiful too.

A five-day Eid break is best spent touching down in Zagreb, and indulging in a night in the city’s capital.

Stunning sandstone structures line the streets lazy outdoor dining options serving up fresh and flaky pastries, perfect for enjoying a European summer night.

The extensive rows of stores make Zagreb a fabulous place for shopping. Meander down the streets, seeing the gorgeous shops, underground restaurants and cellars, with wares on sale all the while, drinking in the rich history of the green city.

An unmissable excursion is a day trip to the Plitvice National Parks (pronounced plitcheyvitchy)– there are a variety of walks to choose from.

A leisurely choice is the 3 km round-trip, which has paths traversing the gorgeous reserves, and less tourists (who tend to opt for the higher 8km trek).

For a trip to see Croatia’s crystal clear seas, Zadar is a favoured local destination, closer to Zagreb, and with one of the oldest towns in the country.

Enjoy a day trip out to one of Zadar’s stunning island clusters, with choices of thrilling adventure treks, or far more relaxing days on a boat, meandering through the islands and villages.

Alternatively, a quick flight to Dubrovnik can have you on a yacht within a couple of hours from departing Zagreb.

Croatia showcases European summers at their finest.
