We Round Up The Dos And Don’ts Of Celebrating Eid Al Adha This Year

As the UAE government has announced a four-day long weekend to celebrate Eid Al Adha this year, it’s important to be responsible and prioritize our safety, as we continue to overcome the spread of COVID-19. To help you plan your Eid in what has been oft-called the ‘new normal’, we’ve rounded up a few do’s and don’ts for you to ensure that you have a joyful and safe Eid.

Pray at home

Offering Eid prayers is an integral part of the occasion and residents have been advised to offer them at home. Pray together with your family in the safety of your home this year. Mosques continue to operate at 30% capacity, which will be increased to 50% from 3 August, following the Eid break.

Avoid large gatherings

We all know Eid as a celebration of family bonds and its values. However, in the world as we know it now, refraining ourselves from meeting our friends and relatives would be the most sensible expression of love. Instead, get together with your loved ones through a video call to share your joys through a digital escapade.

Gift and be gifted online

Its that time of the year when exchanging gifts and giving out ‘eidiyah’, or Eid money, to the little ones in your family becomes an all-day affair.  Enjoy the tradition this year whilst limiting physical interaction. Sending out Eid gifts through online delivery is a great way to add value to your Eid day with a safe and exciting twist.

Put your best dress forward

Even though Eid Al Adha this year is a restrictive celebration, put your best dress forward and embrace the values of the day. Make your home fragrant with bukhoor and wear a fresh pair of clothes and accessories even if you’re avoiding social gatherings.

Be cautious when outdoors

If you decide to step out of your homes for a quick brunch or dinner, make sure that the venue you’re going to is following the necessary safety measurements. There are plenty of options around the country for us to explore on the day, but make sure that you carry your sanitization essentials and remain cautious for your and your loved ones’ sake.
