Exclusive: I’m A Kuwaiti Girl In Dubai And This Is My Ode To The City Of Dreams

The remarkable city that keeps on giving and growing, Dubai is the heart of the world, where the East meets the West. As Kuwaitis, we’ve always been very close to the United Arab Emirates, we’re the best neighbors to each other. After living in Los Angeles, London and traveling around the world, every time I land in Dubai, I feel nostalgic and emotional, just as if I’ve come back home. The city has been at the forefront of infrastructure, technological advancements, business, fashion, and the beauty sector as well.

Soon after I graduated from Law college in London, I knew my heart was set on building my beauty brand ‘House of Rawan’, starting in Dubai first. As Dubai is a cultural hotspot and is leading the way across industries, I thought what better place than this golden city to make my brand grow, evolve as an entrepreneur, and stay connected to around  four million of my lovely followers on social media.

Dubai has also been a key player in proving wrong all the presumptions people have had for years about Middle Eastern women and modest fashion. Arab women from the region have been pushing boundaries and have an impeccable sense of fashion, which is being recognized by leading brands and publications around the world. The beauty industry is booming in Dubai with numerous amazing female brand founders and CEOs, makeup artists, specialists and bloggers.

I think Dubai knows only one direction, and that is forward. And on this note, I’m so excited to be sharing my first-ever article with you all, exclusively on Villa 88. I hope you’ve enjoyed reading it and stay tuned for the next.

Love always,

Rawan
