Are You Ready For The Holy Month? Here’s My Ramadan Routine That You Can Follow Too

As Ramadan inches closer, I’m sure that like me, most of you are wondering what the holy month will be like this year. For me, this will be my first Ramadan with baby Luna and I’m so excited. For Muslims around the world, Ramadan is a time when we not only abstain from food and water, but also from negative thoughts and behaviors.

In the unprecedented times that we’re living in right now, I think it’s so important to seek solace in our faith and cultural teachings. I know Ramadan will be different this time, but we can still make the most of it. I make sure to adopt certain practices during Ramadan and I look forward to them every year.

It’s our belief that a good deed is rewarded tenfold in Ramadan, so what better time to get into the habit of giving back to our community. Personally, I participate in local charities and work with those who are less privileged, collecting and distributing everyday essentials to them.

This is also a time when families come together and I always try to host mine, but given the circumstances, I’ll make sure to do virtual gatherings. Sharing meals and recipes and talking to cousins till Suhoor are moments worth cherishing.

But that’s not to say that we ignore our fitness regimen.  In Ramadan, we eat a lot of sweets and rich traditional dishes, so I like to strike a balance by including healthy food into my diet. I used to walk outdoors for an hour, but have now ordered my own treadmill online and will be doing the same indoors. We also have the chance to wear less makeup and focus more on prayers and spending time with family. I try to keep my skin healthy and use this time to do a detox and for my skin and hair.

We won’t be able to enjoy Ramadan tents and big gatherings this time, but I’ll still make sure to wear my traditional outfits and kaftans with my mom and my baby Luna at home. Dressing up in these circumstances makes me feel much better and boosts my energy. What I absolutely love about Ramadan fashion are the beautiful modest-wear collections that brands roll out. We’re so spoilt for choice.

There are many ways for us to enjoy my favorite month of the year. Most importantly, stay positive and everything will fall into place.

Love,

Rawan
