5 Breast Cancer Awareness Initiatives In The UAE That Deserve Your Time

1. Shababeek’s Pink Pavlova

The chic restaurant in Sharjah has collaborated with Pink Caravan to launch this homemade pink pavlova for the month of October, with all proceeds from the dessert being donated to raise awareness for breast cancer. This delectable, Instagrammable sweet treat features a light, homemade meringue, delicate and crisp on the outside and soft on the inside, topped with a generous dollop of whipped cream. Flecked with fresh strawberries and pistachio nuts, the dessert is available to be devoured until 31 October. And you couldn’t have a better reason to indulge, it’s for a good cause.

2. Rixos Premium Saadiyat Island’s #PINKtober campaign

To mark breast cancer awareness month, the Abu Dhabi-based hotel will be giving 50% of proceeds from its ‘Pretty in Pink Massage and Facial’ to Al Jalila Foundation. Customized to every skin type, the 120-minute body and face treatment is designed to restore balance and provide hyper hydration. Think about relishing a relaxing massage, followed by selecting one of the 10 global massage techniques, from Chinese tui na, Swedish shiatsu, and Hawaiian loomi-loomi, among others.

3. Pink Hub at Sharjah Ladies Club

Sharjah Ladies Club ran a spectacular three-day event last week to raise awareness about breast cancer. Called the ‘Pink Hub’, the all-women event featured a string of health and wellness activities and talks, from a fitness boot camp to a session on healthy diet by Dr Nada Al Mulla to an educational discussion by Pink Caravan. It also offered free consultation and the opportunity to get your free mammgram done at Saudi German Hospital.

4. GUESS Eyewear’s Pink Collection

Guess and the Marcolin Group are back for a fourth year-running with a campaign held in partnership with the American non-profit The Get in Touch Foundation to create a capsule eye-wear collection. The foundation is devoted to educating women of all ages to understand their bodies and the importance of using safe, non-invasive tools for proper breast self-exams, such as the Daisy Wheel. The collection features a pair of sunglasses and eyeglasses, decorated with the iconic ribbon in rose gold metal and a special pink case. Available in all Guess stores throughout the month.

5. The Ritz-Carlton, Dubai x the Big Beauty Scoop

The hotel is supporting the Al Jalila Foundation in partnership with Best Friends with the launch of #PINKTOBER in association with The Big Beauty Scoop. Taking place at the JBR hotel throughout October, the activities will raise funds and create awareness, while celebrating survivors and those battling breast cancer. From an afternoon tea in the lobby lounge to the Rose Awakening Ritual treatment at the Ritz-Carlton spa. Together with The Big Beauty Scoop, the hotel hosted a sumptuous high tea on 8 October, a lavish evening of pampering, complimentary services from partners including Charlotte Tilbury, Dermalogica, Pastels Salon and Cara Jewellery. It’s all about celebrating womanhood.
