Princess Lamia Al Saud reappointed as Goodwill Ambassador for Arab States for a third term by UN-Habitat

Congratulations are in order for HRH Princess Lamia Bint Majid Al Saud on her reappointment as UN-Habitat’s Goodwill Ambassador for the Arab States for the 2025-2026 term. The Princess has served in this esteemed role since 2020, advocating for sustainable regional urban development.

In a statement, Princess Lamia expressed her gratitude, saying: “I am honoured to continue my role as UN-Habitat’s Goodwill Ambassador for the Arab States for a third term, 2025-2026. I remain dedicated to advancing our shared goals of creating sustainable, inclusive, and resilient cities while empowering communities. I look forward to the impactful work ahead.”

Following her reappointment, UN-Habitat acknowledged her contributions, stating:
“Since 2020, HRH has championed adequate housing, inclusive cities, resilient communities, and urban innovation. We are excited to continue this impactful partnership!”

As the first-ever Goodwill Ambassador for UN-Habitat in the Arab region, appointed in 2020, HRH Princess Lamia Bint Majid Al Saud has played a pivotal role in raising awareness of key urban issues, advocating for sustainable and resilient cities, and mobilising resources to address urban challenges across the region.

A dedicated philanthropist, Princess Lamia has successfully supported resource mobilisation for numerous impactful projects. Her efforts have contributed to adequate housing for vulnerable communities, COVID-19 response initiatives, and climate action, benefitting countries such as Iraq, Palestine, Sudan, Yemen, and Tunisia.

Her Royal Highness Princess Lamia Bint Majed Saud Al Saud serves as the Secretary-General and a member of the Board of Trustees at Alwaleed Philanthropies, as well as the CEO of Rotana Media Group since 2024. She is the daughter of Prince Majed bin Saud, grandson of King Saud bin Abdulaziz Al Saud.

Princess Lamia was appointed Secretary General of Alwaleed Philanthropies in April 2016, after previously holding the position of Executive Manager of Media & Communication at the foundation. In her leadership role, she has received international recognition, earning numerous prestigious awards

Prior to joining Alwaleed Philanthropies, HRH Princess Lamia founded the publishing company Sada Al Arab, in Cairo, Beirut and Dubai and published four magazines. She is also an esteemed novelist, publishing Children and Blood in 2010.
