When Karl Lagerfeld died in Paris on 19 February this year after seven decades in fashion, it seemed like the end of an era. He was the undisputed king, the most prolific designer to have set foot in the industry in the 21st century. As creative director of Chanel and Fendi, he paved the way for some of the brands’ most iconic designs and shows, from Chanel’s Arabian-infused Cruise Collection 2014/15 in Dubai, to the ethereal posthumous show for Fendi at Milan Fashion Week Autumn/Winter 2019.
