Are you ready for this? Chanel’s artistic collaboration with the sensational American director Sofia Coppola just marked the beginning of the ‘Mademoiselle Privé’ exhibition in Tokyo. Paying homage to Gabrielle Chanel, Sofia has created a video collage featuring archival videos and images, advertising and film extracts, offering a contemporary vision of the French maison, from its haute couture collections and the N°5 perfume.

First started at Saatchi Gallery in London in 2015, the fifth instalment of the exhibition continues to celebrate the legacy of the French maison through the years. In her apartment decorated with lacquered Coromandel screens and surrounded by precious objects, Mademoiselle Chanel deployed the aesthetics of her imaginary world. And at the exhibition, you can experience them first-hand.
Chanel’s Mademoiselle Prive exhibition runs at the B&C Hall-Tennoz in Tokyo until 1 December.
