Her Highness Sayyida Meyyan bint Shihab Al Said, and Sheikha Bibi Duaij Al Jaber Al Sabah were honoured on Friday with the Arab Woman of the Year Award 2025 at a ceremony in London, in recognition of their contributions to the promotion of creativity and the preservation of cultural heritage.
Her Highness Sayyida Meyyan bint Shihab Al Said, Chairperson of the Oman Design Association, has been awarded the prestigious Arab Women Award 2025 for her contributions in the field of social impact.
This recognition highlights Sayyida Meyyan’s influential role in advancing social development and championing creative initiatives through her leadership at the Oman Design Association.
Sheikha Bibi Al Sabah, Chairperson of the Al Sadu Society, was also celebrated and honoured by the London Arab Women Award for her dedication to the protection of cultural heritage.
She is widely recognised for her pivotal role in preserving and promoting the traditional craft of Sadu weaving — a cornerstone of Kuwait’s cultural identity.
Through her efforts, the art of Al Sadu weaving was successfully inscribed on UNESCO’s Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity, ensuring its legacy for future generations.
Since 2015, the Arab London organisation has been recognising the achievements of Arab women across a range of fields.
This year’s event was attended by several distinguished guests, including Her Excellency Nasra Ghani, Deputy of the British House of Commons, as well as Arab ambassadors accredited to the United Kingdom, underscoring the international significance of the occasion.
