As the Kuwaiti Embassy in Washington celebrated the Kuwaiti National Day, Her Excellency Sheikha Al-Zain Al-Sabah, the Kuwaiti Ambassador to the United States, appeared in a stunning custom-made black-and-gold creation by Kuwaiti brand Sirdab6, designed by Sheikha Souad Al Athbi Al Sabah. The ensemble was a tribute to Kuwaiti heritage, celebrating cultural pride and female empowerment.

“Honored to represent a Kuwaiti design from Sirdab6 by Sheikha Souad Al Athbi Al Sabah as a quiet tribute to the creativity and excellence of our people and a reminder that our strength is expressed not only through policy but through culture,” shared H.E. Sheikha Al Zain Al Sabah. 

Her Excellency Sheikha Al Zain stepped into the Kuwait Cultural Centre in Washington in a striking custom-made ensemble inspired by the traditional Kuwaiti thoub. In conversation with the designer, Sheikha Souad Al Athbi Al Sabah, discussing her vision, she shared her desire to reinterpret the traditional Kuwaiti thoub into a contemporary look, transforming it into a jumpsuit while honoring the essence and intricate heritage of the original thoub.

Sheikha Souad added thoughtful details to complete the look: a belt reflecting traditional elements and a flowing cape inspired by the structure and refined elegance of the bisht. “The intention was to respect the heritage of the design while presenting it in a way that feels current and refined,” Sheikha Souad explained.
As for the inspiration behind the look, Sheikha Souad Al Athbi Al Sabah stated that the design is deeply rooted in Kuwaiti culture: “Our heritage is unique, and we take pride in expressing it not only through what we wear but through the values and traditions we carry.” 

The ensemble is a masterful dialogue between past and present, honoring cultural authenticity while feeling utterly modern. As Sheikha Souad noted, Her Excellency carried it with remarkable grace, representing the pride of both our family and Kuwait.
