In a night dedicated to celebrating pioneering individuals and organisations in the design field, whose dedication, innovation, and exceptional contributions have shaped Dubai’s thriving creative ecosystem, Her Highness Sheikha Latifa bint Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairperson of the Dubai Culture and Arts Authority (Dubai Culture), honoured those who have played a key role in establishing Dubai as the first UNESCO Creative City of Design in the Middle East.
Among the many distinguished honourees at the 10th Dubai Design Week, Her Highness Sheikha Lateefa bint Maktoum Al Maktoum, Founder and Director of Tashkeel, was celebrated for her instrumental role in shaping Dubai’s dynamic creative scene. The event, which marked the conclusion of this year’s Dubai Design Week, acknowledged the invaluable impact of pioneers like Sheikha Lateefa, whose work continues to inspire and influence the city’s development as a global hub for design and creativity.
Sheikha Lateefa’s vision for Tashkeel has been pivotal in nurturing creative talent and supporting the growth of the UAE’s design sector. Her commitment to fostering innovation was further recognised through initiatives such as the Tanween programme, which guides product development from concept to implementation, helping to define the UAE’s unique design aesthetic.
In a series of heartfelt stories shared on Instagram following the prestigious ceremony, Her Highness Sheikha Lateefa expressed her deep gratitude for receiving the Creative Pioneer Award from Her Highness Sheikha Latifa bint Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum. Sheikha Lateefa thanked her cousin, Sheikha Latifa, for the recognition, saying, “I am honoured to receive the award of Creative Pioneer from Her Highness Sheikha Latifa bint Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum and the Dubai Culture Authority.”
