Villa 88 has joined forces with SMK Tennis to launch a trophy design competition for the 2021 edition of the annual Emirati women’s tournament in Abu Dhabi. Envisioned by Sheikha Shaikha bint Mohammed bin Khalid Al Nahyan, the founder of SMK Tennis, this initiative offers female Emirati creatives the opportunity to develop innovative prototypes, using sustainable materials and interpreting the theme of ‘Connecting Champions’.
The goal is to create an avenue for emerging artists and designers and nurture their skills, bringing their unique aesthetic vocabularies to the fore. Participants will be judged by a panel of local industry veterans for their designs on the basis of SMK: sustainability, mastery and knack for creativity, and the winning design will be locally manufactured.[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]
The grand prize
The winner will be awarded a cash prize of AED30,000 and the chance to present the award at the closing ceremony of SMK Tennis 2021 in the presence of members of the UAE royal family.

Inspired by her love of the sport and the need to create platform for Emirati women to practice and train in a private location, SMK Tennis offers a unique blend of state-of-the-art tennis and luxury.
The tournament’s mission is to elevate tennis in the United Arab Emirates by providing cutting-edge training programs and customized personal assessments to help tennis players upgrade their game.
