For over the last six years, Bvlgari has celebrated Emirati Women’s Day through meaningful storytelling initiatives that honour the achievements and enduring legacy of Emirati women. The Maison is committed to honouring the heritage and stories that continue to shape the region, while recognising the contributions that inspire future generations. They are guided by their long-time mission to “elevate life by revealing magnificent beauty.”
Her Highness Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, “Mother of the Nation,” announced the official theme, “Together, We Rise Stronger and Better,” reflecting the collective journey of Emirati women and their continued role in shaping society across generations.
This year, Bvlgari partnered with Emirati cultural visionary and founder of Cinema Akil, Butheina Kazim, to develop an original short film titled “The Girl I Needed”. The film draws inspiration from the enduring strength of women in the UAE, paying tribute to the women who shape us and whose wisdom and guidance are carried through time.

The film follows young Mariam from childhood to adulthood, exploring themes of identity, belonging, and self-acceptance. The film reflects on empowerment not as a destination, but rather as an evolving journey rooted in courage, personal growth, and authenticity.

Written and directed by Taqwa Bint Ali, whose work is driven by a deep commitment to storytelling that connects. Through narratives rooted in human experience, Taqwa explores emotion, identity, and culture in ways that resonate across borders. Produced in collaboration with Studio HARAKA, a multidisciplinary studio rooted in movement and the cultural rhymes of the Gulf, the film brings together a distinctive visual language and an authentic perspective to celebrate the stories of Emirati women.

The creative vision of Executive Producer Butheina Kazim, Producer Osama Mutasem, Director of Photography Anas Alkassim, and Lead Actress Mariam Shamma, shaped the film’s emotional depth and visual experience.
