Rabat Royal Theatre Opening with Princess Lalla Khadija

HRH Princess Lalla Khadija, the only daughter of HM King Mohammed VI of Morocco, has officially stepped into a more prominent royal role, marking a generational shift after years in which her eldest aunt, HRH Princess Lalla Meryem, led engagements both within Morocco and on the international stage.

What appears to be a swift shift in transition was evident during the opening night of the Grand Theatre of Rabat, where Princess Lalla Khadija led the opening with her aunts, Their Royal Highnesses Princess Lalla Meryem and Princess Lalla Hasnaa, President of the Royal Theatre of Rabat Foundation.

The young princess welcomed France’s first lady, Brigitte Macron, who joined her for the opening show. This was not their first meeting. Princess Lalla Khadija had previously met the First Lady in October 2024, when she received her and her husband, Emmanuel Macron, during their official visit to Morocco.

Dressed in a light blue metallic caftan with minimal jewellery, the princess welcomed Brigitte Macron, with her aunts just behind her, a moment that reflects her growing role.

In October 2024, Princess Lalla Khadija made a series of notable appearances during the visit of President Emmanuel Macron and Brigitte Macron, carrying herself with the poise of a true First Lady, whether in a tailored Dior jacket or a glittering caftan.

In 2025, she was later seen on the streets of Rabat alongside her brother, Crown Prince Moulay Hassan, taking part in the “Ramadan 1446” initiative, which focuses on distributing food baskets to those most in need.
