Jun’s Introduces ‘The Short Story’: A Six-Course Tasting Menu Celebrating Signature Dishes and Personal Narratives

Building on its legacy of storytelling through Third Culture Cooking, Jun’s introduces ‘The Short Story’, a new six-course tasting menu by Chef Kelvin Cheung. The menu distils some of the restaurant’s most beloved dishes into a more concise, yet equally expressive format.

Guests are invited to explore a curated selection of signature plates that reflect Chef Kelvin’s personal journey across cultures, offering a narrative that feels both intimate and accessible. Also available in a vegetarian alternative, ‘The Short Story’ starts at AED 225, with the option to add a glass of wine or a cocktail for an additional AED 50.

Jun’s Interior

The experience begins with Lobster Pani Puri, a refined evolution of one of Jun’s most iconic opening bites, playful and rooted in the chef’s enduring love for bold flavours and surprise. This is followed by Watermelon, a dish born from friendship and collaboration, first imagined during a creative exchange in Amman and now reinterpreted with dry-aged sea bream, tomato dashi and wasabi-infused olive oil – reflecting how ideas and memories travel across borders.

The Hot and Sour Wonton Soup revisits Chef Kelvin’s early days in Chicago, where he first served his mother’s recipe in a bubble tea shop. It is now elevated into a delicate, yet deeply comforting broth layered with scallop and miniature wontons, bridging nostalgia with refined technique.

Loomi Paleta

For the main course, guests can choose between Wagyu Steak with handmade noodles, broccolini and roasted garlic sauce, featuring a choice of 150g cut, or the Juicy Lucy Burger-a 200g wagyu patty with a molten American cheese centre, served with griddled onions, pickles and jalapeño.

Childhood Treat

The menu then moves into desserts, beginning with Loomi Paleta, inspired by childhood summers in Chicago and reimagined with a local Emirati twist through the use of loomi, bringing brightness and familiarity to each bite. It concludes with Childhood Treat, a tribute to moments shared between Chef Kelvin and his mother, expressed through pu-erh chocolate ganache, Horlicks and sesame, ending on a warm, reflective note.

With ‘The Short Story’, Jun’s captures the essence of its larger tasting journey in a format that remains rich in meaning, memory and connection, while offering a more approachable way to experience the restaurant’s signature dishes.
