His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, expressed his affection for his wife, Her Highness Sheikha Hind Bint Maktoum, whom he often described as his greatest supporter and the foundation of his family.
On Her Highness Sheikha Hind Bint Maktoum bin Juma Al Maktoum’s birthday, HH Sheikh Mohammed marked the day with a touching tribute, sharing previously unseen footage taken more than 55 years ago, offering glimpses into the childhood of Her Highness. The material originates from the 1970 documentary, ‘Behind the Veil’, filmed in Dubai by photographer, Eve Arnold.

The message reads, “On your birthday… may you be the most beautiful of my days every year… may you be the pulse of my happiness and my peace every year… may you be my companion on the journey and the friend of my lifetime every year. My prayers are that God protects you… that He keeps your eyes a homeland for innocence, dreams, and life, and that He keeps your heart a homeland for me, one I long for every day.”
In 2025, HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum dedicated the 4th of January—the anniversary of his Accession Day—to his wife, HH Sheikha Hind bint Maktoum, in a gesture of profound love and personal tribute.
Honouring their shared journey, he acknowledged her steadfast dedication and unwavering support throughout the years, describing her as a companion, supporter, and a constant pillar in life.

Widely known for far-reaching and profound impact, HH Sheikha Hindwas honoured by the UN for leading a charitable initiative that delivered millions of meals to people in need during the pandemic, in 2020.
She was named ‘Humanitarian of the Year 2020’ at the Arab Woman Awards UAE, for her efforts in leading the community-spirited project.
She has also led the UAE Food Bank since it was established in 2017, a body that coordinates the distribution of surplus food from restaurants, the hospitality sector and other outlets to those less fortunate.
